Lisa Rose, a local author and business owner of A BEAD OF ROSES, has just released her second self-published book titled Our Family Journey after being inspired by her own family experiences to create an easy-to-fill-out customized diary intended to capture all of the magic moments that happen through-out a family's lifetime.
It was just 2 years ago when Lisa was spending time with her family (George her husband and two children, Grace and and Jack). Grace was thinking about quitting playing a sport, so George trying to inspire Grace not to quit, starting telling a story about when he was in high school, how he signed up with his friend, Rich, to compete in a weekend tennis tournament. The funny thing was that he and Rich had never played competitive tennis nor had they ever taken lessons, plus they were competing against all of the high school tennis superstars in the county. Never-the-less, George and Rich played in the 3-day tournament and ended up winning the tournament as the under-dogs.
Shocked, motivated and inspired by the story, Lisa turned to George and said with a gleam in her eyes, "I have been married to you for 10 years and you have never once told me that story...why didn't you ever bring that up?".
George replied: "you never asked..."
It was then that Lisa realized that there needs to be a book that would draw out those magic moments so that everyone in the family can write them down to enjoy them in the future. On a personal level, Lisa has learned how devasting it can be not to have access to information that is lost relating to faded memories as her Mother, Mary Connolly, was diagnosed with early on-set Alzeihmer's in her late 40's. So off she went for the next year compiling and crafting- in a logical sequence of events- all of the different types of questions that would pull out those stories that needed to be written down before they are forgotten. The end result was the birth of Our Family Journey.
